Embury was a prominent New York architect known for his country houses and country clubs of the early to mid-twentieth century, as well as bridges and other public works in New York City. Family and social connections brought him to North Carolina where he created a distinctive body of work that helped define the unique architectural character of the Sand Hills resort communities, especially Pinehurst and Southern Pines.

The tour will include the Boyd House at the Weymouth Center for the Arts and Humanities, Highland Pines Cottage & Mid Pines Country Club. The tour will meet at the Boyd House and self drive to the remaining sites, so carpooling is encouraged.
